   Congrats! Keep going!

hi everyone! Once again I'm riging pelotonia this year, this time in support of all those that spend countless hours caregiving for their loved ones with cancer: I ride for my mom this year! Its been over a year since my dad passed away from lung cancer and she remains so strong, a real survivor. We sometimes forget the toll this disease imparts on those that give so much of themselves in helping others with cancer. For over 3 years, my mom's mission was to take care of my dad, it was rarely easy.  I ride this year with added enthusiasm to raise funds for cancer researach. I hope that one day soon we will find a cure for cancer and this bike ride has been, and is, a step to that end.

As I have done in past years, I will again  ride 50 miles in August as part of the Crops to the Clinic Peloton. As many of you know, every dollar raised by Pelotonia is used for cancer research.

As an update to our research efforts, once again, our black raspberry confections will be handed out at the James Cancer Center tent in the opening ceremony of Pelotonia. You may recall that these confections have been studied extensively in our lab as part of a multidiciplinary program for their bioactivity and health promoting properties and have undergone several human clinical trials with promising results.  I am also happy to say, that since August of last year, we have been selling the confections to the public (6 piece box) from various OSU locations with profits returning to functional food researach. Additionally, do to the success on campus, we have formed a company (foodsforpurpose) and will shortly begin selling them outside of OSU. We continue to study our soy bread (second study in prostate cancer) and are now also studying blueberries for their role in mitigating chemobrain: cognitive decline commonly experienced by those receiving chemotherapy.

Many of these projects would not have gotten off the ground  without the support from Pelotonia. So I am asking you to help me raise funds for this incredible event. Large or small, every donation makes a difference! Lets find a cure for cancer together!
