|$0 My Goal: $1,250.00|
We have all been affected by cancer in one way or another and have seen and/or experienced the devastating effects it has on its victims and their friends and families. Despite the fact that one in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with this disease in their lifetime, government funding for cancer research has been flat in recent years. Organizations like Pelotonia rely on fundraising efforts to continue to fund research for cancer treatments and cures.
Pelotonia is a grassroots organization that raises money to support life-saving cancer research through donations. Pelotonia 2018 will be my 9th consecutive year participating in this wonderful event. Corporate partners, like Huntington, cover the expenses so every cent of every dollar raised by Pelotonia riders goes directly to fund cancer research, at The Ohio State University, James Cancer Hospital. I will be riding with a team of Huntington colleagues, with a team goal of raising over $3 million.
The model of Pelotonia remains simple: Pelotonia's operating expenses are covered by funding partners so that 100% of every dollar raised by Pelotonia riders, virtual riders and volunteers goes directly to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). OSUCCC – James contributes to the global war on cancer by conducting scientific research that translates to leading-edge cancer diagnostics, treatments and prevention strategies. Leveraging the university’s academic depth and breadth, the OSUCCC – James’ more than 300 researchers and subspecialized oncologists are speeding the discovery and delivery of molecular- and genetic-based therapies for individual cancers, leading to improved outcomes, faster responses, more options and fewer side effects.
Founded in 2008, Pelotonia was established with the objective to fund life-saving cancer research. Focused on a community of passionate fundraisers and centered around a three-day experience of cycling, entertainment, and volunteerism, the Pelotonia community has raised more than $157 million for high-risk, high-reward cancer research. Last year, 8,022 Riders from 39 states and 7 countries participated along with 3,576 Virtual Riders and 3,044 Volunteers.
Please join me in supporting this cause, where 100% of your donation will go directly towards cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
