Cancer. It is a word that has impacted all or most of us in some way. Whether it be a close family member or other loved one, the word rings loud and clear. Putting it quite nicely, cancer sucks. I also have had my life impacted by this terrible disease. I am riding this year so that our future generations will have a life where cancer is a term of the past and not a nightmare of our present day.
Why do I ride you may ask? My grandpa passed away from cancer in 2004. I often think about what life would be like had he not had this terrible disease. He was my biggest fan when I was growing up and I know that he will also be my biggest fan as I take on 25 miles. There will be much blood, sweat, and tears that will go into preparing for this day and all of it will be worth it. I’m stoked to be a part of th Greatest Team Ever, where we will all come together for one weekend for simple one goal... to end cancer.
Founded in 2008, Pelotonia was established with the objective to fund life-saving cancer research. Focused on a community of passionate fundraisers and centered around a three-day experience of cycling, entertainment, and volunteerism, the Pelotonia community has raised more than $158 million for high-risk, high-reward cancer research. Last year, 8,022 Riders from 39 states and 7 countries participated along with 3,576 Virtual Riders and 3,044 Volunteers. Please join me in supporting this cause, where 100% of your donation will go directly towards cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
