|$0 My Commitment: $2,500.00|
We all know someone, often many whose lives are impacted by cancer. Sometimes we experience a great loss as a life was cut too short and we experience a void in our lives forever. At other times we celebrate victory, bravery, and strength for our loved ones who are survivors! My hope is that we continue to discover treatments and cures that can save and improve quality of life for those impacted. If we continue to commit ourselves I truly believe we can conquer cancer. I hope it's something my kids will never have to worry about.
I embarked on my first Pelotonia ride last year and have to confess it was one of the most inspirational rides of my life. As I pushed through the two days I had the opportunity to meet fellow riders and hear their stories. Rolling through towns along the route we were greated with cheers of thanks for our efforts and encouragement for the miles lying ahead of us. I won't lie, my body grew more fatigued and sore with every mile, but I was driven by the purpose and the impact of this ride. My two days of the ride and all of the training leading up to it were nothing in comparision to the fight those with cancer are facing. Throughout my rdie I kept thinking about how I could do more to support these fighters, their loved ones, and the researchers and healthcare teams helping them to navigate their journey.
So I am back again this year and committed to going further....180 miles in two days. It will be tough, but I will be ready! Each day I train I am inspired by my loved ones - those we had to say goodbye to all too soon as a result of cancer - Alice, Nadia, Steve; those whose cancer survivorship we celebrate - MaryAnne & Deb; my children - Hunter & Austin and family; and all of those fighting cancer today (including Robyn & Neta) or supporting their loved ones through their journey. It takes a village and I want to do my part to help. If you would like to find a way to get involved, please join us in the ride or even contribute to the effort by sponsoring my ride. Every dollar counts.
Here is a little bit of background for those of you who are not familiar with Pelotonia.
Founded in 2008, Pelotonia was established with the objective to fund life-saving cancer research. Focused on a community of passionate fundraisers and centered around a three-day experience of cycling, entertainment, and volunteerism, the Pelotonia community has raised more than $157 million for high-risk, high-reward cancer research. Last year, 8,022 Riders from 39 states and 7 countries participated along with 3,576 Virtual Riders and 3,044 Volunteers. Please join me in supporting this cause, where 100% of your donation will go directly towards cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
