Dear Family and Friends,

This is the third year I am committing to ride in Pelotonia, however, it will be my biggest commitment yet, as I will ride 200 miles to support cancer research and remember those who we’ve lost to cancer,  including Dawn Nelson and Derek Geerlings.  Many others have been diagnosed and are currently fighting the long, painful and heartbreaking battle.

Last year’s ride was memorable in many ways, specifically because I was blessed with so many of my dear friends riding with me, including Marie Slater, Colleen Neuenschwander, Karen Silone, Dwayne Carrington, Jody Sturgeon and my dear sweet husband along with Trina Wood providing SAG support!

But what was also very memorable were the number of friends and family I and my friends dedicated our ride to by writing their names on our jerseys, because they were either recently diagnosed, were currently battling or had lost their battle to cancer.  It was heart wrenching.

What helps ease the weight of the journey are the survivors who line the streets encouraging the riders to keep pedaling.  They are filled with hope, faith and love, and are grateful for every mile we ride.  It is an emotionally overwhelming odyssey of community support and inspirational messages.

For those of you who are not aware, Pelotonia was established in 2008 with the objective to fund life-saving cancer research.  Focused on a community of passionate fundraisers and centered around a three-day experience of cycling, entertainment, and volunteerism, the Pelotonia community has raised more than $184 million.  Thanks to its generous funding partners, Pelotonia directs 100% of every donation to cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Last year, 8,470 Riders from 42 states and 15 countries participated along with 3,000 Virtual Riders and 3,000 Volunteers.  This community of participants and donors has funded Student Fellowships, Senior Scientists, Idea Grants, and Statewide Initiatives. Every project and investment is intended to save lives!  For more information about the groundbreaking advances funded by Pelotonia, check out

Please consider supporting me today by making a donation towards my Ride.  With 100% of your donation going directly toward improving lives through innovative research, you can rest assured that you are making a difference.  This year marks Pelotonia’s 11th Anniversary, and we are setting out to do more than we ever have before.

Together we are making a meaningful impact.  Thank you for your consideration in supporting my efforts and helping save lives!

Every year I ride, I ride for all people affected by cancer, but specifically for my dear friend Dawn Nelson, who passed away on Dan and I’s anniversary, 9/21/2017.
