|$0 My Goal: $2,000.00|
2020 will be my fifth consecutive ride with Pelotonia. I cannot adequately or accurately state how proud I am to be a part of such a great cause! Instead, I can share why I choose to be a member of the Greatest Team Ever on a yearly basis:
I ride for my family. I have been personally touched by the pain that cancer causes. I have two aunts that have bravely and ferociously battled cancer. Fortunately, they continue to fight. Unfortunately, they will always have to. Additionally, a number of other people very close to me have dealt with this awful diagnosis. Cancer indiscriminately doles out pain and sadness to people. I ride to try to elimate that pain and sadness. For me. For my family. For my friends. And for everyone out there that has dealt, is dealing, or will deal with the monster than cancer represents.
I ride for everyone that can't. Pelotonia is an amazing, inspiring, motivating event for all that take part. That sad reality is that we are all smiling and riding, in part, for the many people that are currently undergoing treatment, or that are no longer able to fight the disease. With every donation I receive, every sign that a spectator makes, and every fellow rider and volunteer with whom I speak, I am constantly reminded of all the people that brought us to this event---the ones that could not attend themselves.
I ride for a cure. The progress that has been made over the last few decades is, frankly, unthinkable. The medical community went from believing cancer was one single disease to understanding that it is actually over 200 different, unique diseases. We have come from cancer being a death sentence, to being able to fight back and beat or slow the spreading of an individual's cancer. What is not unthinkable is that, with all the progress we have made so far, we can find a cure for these 200+ cancers in the next 20, or 10, or 5 years.
I am so proud of Pelotonia and the community that it inspires. I am so happy to be a part of this amazing organization. I hope you will join my cause and help me help all the smart people at The Ohio State University's James Cancer Research Center find a cure once and for all!
