A personal note on why I’m riding this year:
2020 is a monumental sounding year, isn’t it? At the beginning of this year I realized that this year was an especially important landmark for me- 20 years cancer-free. When I was ten, I was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma in my right arm. My faith, family, and friends were invaluable supports in this time. I also have St. Jude Children’s Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital and their incredible doctors, nurses, researchers, and staff to thank. I hope that this ride enables many others to stand in this place where I am today for many years to come, hopefully even past my lifetime. Thank you for your cheering on of this effort- it is an emotional ride where I am overwhelmed by the daily mercy of being able to live another day. I thank God for you and however you are able to support me! The opportunity to live each day is truly a gift to every person- I am reminded of Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;great is your faithfulness.”
Now, a note about why you should feel pretty great about your donation (info from & about Pelotonia):
I’ve joined the Greatest Team Ever, a community of legendary Riders, Virtual Riders, Volunteers, Researchers, Donors, and passionate fundraisers who have committed to join forces to make amazing things happen. In just eleven years the Pelotonia community raised over $208 million for cancer research. But we aren’t stopping there. Every single dollar we raise is invested in innovative cancer research, the brightest minds and ideas, and the tools and technology needed to reach our one goal. In July 2019, Pelotonia announced the creation of the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. The institute launched with an initial $102,265,000 pledge from the Pelotonia community. This money will be raised over the next 5 years and represents the 2,265 riders who participated in the first Pelotonia in 2009. Please consider supporting me today by making a donation to support my fundraising goal. Remember - 100% of every single dollar raised is directed to life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Anyone can be a legend. Join us today.
