|$0 My Goal: $3,500.00|
I am beyond excited to participate in the annual Pelotonia ride for the 7th time this year. My involvement is very personal.
I was first introduced to cancer at a young age, when my grandfather passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer just before my 13th birthday. Unfortunately this was only my introduction with the disease.
Over the 4th of July weekend 2008, my little sister Alison was diagnosed with GBM, an aggressive brain tumor, with which she fought like hell for nearly 20 months until it took her from us on March 15, 2010. Ali is my constant source of inspiration and motivation. She taught me to live life to the fullest, to enjoy every minute of every day, and to cherish friends and family. She was there to cheer me on at the finish line in Athens at Pelotonia '09, and memories of her spirit and energy got me to Gambier the last two years. I've watched some of my best friends lose parents, including Max Avner, who lost his mother Debbie, and who I'm excited to ride with and share this incredible experience again this year.
Just over 5 years ago I had my own brush with the disease, when I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. As a result of early detection and some of the best medical care in the country, I am now cancer-free, and celebrate every day with my friends and family.
I am extremely fortunate, but not everyone's journey with cancer has a happy ending. Here we are in 2017 and cancer keeps affecting those around me, both friends and family.
I'm riding because this is personal for me. I'm riding because 100% of every dollar that is raised goes directly to cancer research. I would be honored to have your support for this important cause. There can only be ONE GOAL -> END CANCER!
Let's make this the year that nobody has to hear the words "you've got cancer". Who's with me?
