ONE GOAL. END CANCER
Although cancer has affected so many people I love - this year is all about my momma! She was a fierce warrior, and I think Cancer had met its match with her. In 1993, she was diagnosed with breast cancer -- but courageously beat it. In 2018 she was diagnosed with a new, more aggressive Breast cancer, (TNBC) which she battled fearlessly. In 2019 she was diagnosed with bladder cancer, which SHE BEAT -- ultimately however this past February 7, she died from complications of her cancer and chemotherapy-- but it needs to be know that just 2 days before her passing her scans showed once again she was showing cancer who was boss, as Some of her metastases had shrunk and there was no progression!
While we certainly wish the outcome were different, we are so thankful for the team at Ohio State for their care and we know they gave her the best chance at a successful outcome-- TNBC is a beast and she fought for a long time. Did I mention she was beating the cancer when she died? The money people have donated in past years helped researchers at the James come up with a combo of chemo and immunotherapy THAT WAS FINALLY WORKING!! Let's keep it going, let's help the clinicians to take the next steps and prevent tragic endings like we're enduring---here is to ONE goal--> End Cancer --> or at least provide more happy endings for those fighting it!
