Hi! Thanks for visiting my profile!
This is my seventh time to particiapte in Pelotonia and I'm honored to be a part of this important event. Over the last couple of years I've lost several friends and family members to cancer. I am riding to honor them and the loved ones they have left behind.
I feel like I've grown up with cancer. From my earliest memory I recall hearing my uncle, my grandparents, my family members being diagnosed and spending countless hours in treamtment and at hospitals and at funerals. I wish for a world where my son does not have to experience cancer as I did.
When I was 25 I was diagnosed with skin cancer, melanoma. As a 25 year old, I felt like it was the end of the world. I was a lifeguard, I drove a convertible, I had a vacation to Florida planned for Spring break, and I got skin cancer. Not a huge suprise given my lifestyle ... but at 25 you feel invincible.
However, I was super lucky. I caught it early and it was treatable. Now I want to help find a cure for those who don't find it early, who aren't as lucky.
I believe in Pelotonia because every single dollar raised goes to research and to help find cures. No money goes to administration, to marketing, etc.., 100% goes directly to research!
I don't have a fancy bike, so I'll be doing my ride on my cruiser with my basket and my bell! Look for me on the road and cheer me on.
Together we can make a difference.
Please support my ride! One Goal!
