I'm so excited to be part of Pelotonia again - eight years now riding in an event that has become a big part of my year! I'll be doing the 100 mile route, and every pedal stroke, every mile - I do for all those who've been affected by this disease, in the hope that my own little contribution furthers the cause of eliminating cancer.
Most of us have been touched by cancer in some way. Family, friends, sometimes ourselves. I was lucky enough to get through my battle with cancer. I was diagnosed in 1996, went through treatment most of '97 and have been cancer free since. The day my oncologist told me 'I don't think I need to keep seeing you anymore' was a great day, and it would be incredible if every cancer patient got to hear that too.
This ride and the cause it supports is one way we can give back. All funds raised go to the James Cancer Hospital and the Richard J Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University, and will help battle this disease. I hope we'll find a cure in our lifetime, and I'm asking for your help in making this goal closer to reality.
