|$0 My Commitment: $2,000.00|
Cancer does not care who you are. I was a 31-year-old nonsmoker.
In February 2017 I became ill with what was thought to be the flu. My symptoms continued to progress landing me in the emergency room. A Bronchoscopy was scheduled to remove mucus from my lungs. During the procedure a mass was found and a biopsy performed.
Through determination, love, and friendships I found my way to The James Cancer Center. I had a Carcinoid Tumor on the right upper lobe of my lungs. The tumor was removed and my airway reconstructed. Only a small portion of my lung had to be removed.
I am extremely grateful to the surgeon, pulmonologist and the entire medical staff at The James. They saved my life and gave me an opportunity for a fresh start. I realize that every day is a gift from God. I have used the past two years of my recovery to transform my overall health and body.
I pledge to raise $1,750 toward cancer research at The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute – a place that is very dear to my heart (and lungs)!
