|$0 My Goal: $7,500.00|
I wear many hats - mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend...but my most prized is that of SURVIVOR....2 times, to be exact.
I was diagnosed with Stage 1 Melanoma on April 20 of 2012 and that diagnosis brought me to my first Pelotonia. I made a conscious decision that I was going to own what was handed to me. I was going to make a difference.
In September 2014, just a short month after the Pelotonia ride, I began my second cancer journey. After weeks of waiting for results and even a surgery, on October 8, I was diagnosed with stage 1b Invasive Adenocarcinoma Cervical Cancer. It was time to fight again, and fight I would.
Year one I rode for me. I rode to heal. I rode so I wouldn't feel sorry for myself. Now I ride because this is my passion - to end cancer.
With the efforts of Pelotonia and The James, one day we WILL live in a cancer free world. One day hearing those three words, "you have cancer", will not be something to fear. I am so thankful to live in a community that has answered the call to action in this war, and I am blessed that I get to be part of it.
