I’ve joined the Greatest Team Ever, a community of riders, virtual riders, volunteers, researchers, donors, and passionate fundraisers who committed to join forces to make amazing things happen. In just ten years the Pelotonia community raised over $184 million for cancer research. But we aren’t stopping there. Every single dollar we raise is invested in innovative cancer research, the brightest minds and ideas, and the tools and technology needed to reach our one goal.
I will be completing the 45 mile ride, which is not bad seeing I have not ridden a bike past a few miles in over 20 years, but I know this is worth every ounce of sweat I will put in preparing. I am told that the ride itself is simply amazing, seeing thousands of people united for one cause, beating cancer, and I truly am looking forward to the morning of August 3rd.
I am riding in support of all those loved ones in my circle of family of friends and family who have had their lives taken by cancer or affected by cancer. Most recently, my sister-in-law Carol lost her battle with this disease after a long and courageous battle. I experienced this mainly from a distance, but to see Mary Lou's resiliency as she traveled that emotional journey as she supported and loved Carol was truly inspirational and a testimony to the many men and women who have gone on the same path. We all miss Carol but her love continues on in our hearts and this ride will be dedicated to her memory.
