|Congrats! Keep going!|
This year, I am riding in my very first Pelotonia, 55 miles from New Albany to Gambier. Cancer affects everyone, but for me, I am riding in honor of my hilarious Grandfather Marshall Fisher, and my beautiful Grandmother Irene Fisher, neither of whom I met, but both had such a strong impact on my life.
Marshall was diagnosed with bladder cancer at age 39. He underwent surgery to remove his bladder, and chemotherapy, which put him in remission temporarily, but ultimately took his life at age 41. Marshall died before he got to see any of his daughters graduate from high school, or college, or walk them down the aisle, or meet any of his grandchildren. Marshall was a three sport athlete and was known for his humor and wit.
Irene was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at age 54. She went to Sloan-Kettering in NYC to undergo intense treatment, which sent her to remission briefly, but ultimately took her life at age 56. I never got to meet my Nana, but she is best known for contagious laugh.
I am riding for my grandparents, Marshall and Irene, and everyone else who has been affected by cancer and taken from us far too young. Please consider supporting my ride if you can. If you cannot support me financially, feel free to reach out with well wishes or for others you want me to ride in their honor. 100% of all donations go directly towards cancer research at the Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital.
Together, we can achieve our one goal: end cancer.
